Sex (physical / biological characteristic)
Sex is the difference between men and women physically or biologically. Men and women have different sex roles and it can not
be exchanged between men and women. In this case, women have more sex roles than men. The men sex role is to produce sperm cells. While women sex role is to produce ovum cells, to produce breast milk, and to give
birth.
Gender (social / cultural)
Gender is the difference
between men and women based on the culture of society. Gender roles between men and women can be exchanged. For example, in society women are responsible for child care and cooking, while men work to earn a living for his family. But in fact, it all can be exchanged.
Sexuality (physical / emotional)
Sexuality is
defined as sexual orientation, sexual activity, sexual ability, and sexual
attraction of a person or an integral part of ourselves, what we believe, what
we feel, and how we respond to others. Sexuality can be divided into:
- Heterosexual or Straight: this is the most accepted form of sexuality by the public. Hetero means 'different'. Heterosexuals are those who have attraction with their opposite sex.
- Homosexual: Homo means 'same'. Homosexuals are those who attracted with same-sex. Gay is a man who attracted to men. Lesbian is a women who attracted to women.
- Bisexual: Bi means 'two'. Bisexuals are those who have attraction with opposite sex and same sex (male and female).
- Pansexual: Pan means 'all'. Pansexual are those who attracted with all genders. Pansexual is not the same as bisexual. You could say pansexual does not pay attention to gender first when they are interested in someone. For pansexuals, gender is not a limitating factor in attraction. They can feel attraction to male, female, intersexual, gender-queer, transsexual and other gender identities.
- Asexual: those who are neither interested in nor desire sexual activity.
